The (Un)affordable rent act?

Our newest colleague, Aryzo Arrindell, enjoys researching the Dutch real estate market in his spare time due to his academic background. Recently, he was asked by the Utrecht student investment association BvvK Investments to contribute a guest piece on the Dutch real estate market from an investor’s perspective.

In his latest article, The State of the Dutch Residential Real Estate Market: The Influence of the Affordable Rent Act, Aryzo briefly explains how the Dutch rental sector operates and the current effects of its new legislation. On one hand, it strengthens tenant rights, giving them the ability to advocate for lower rents; on the other hand, it has a considerable negative impact on the existing housing stock, as well as on new housing additions. Perhaps the Unaffordable Rent Act would be a more fitting name? Read more on pages 8 to 10.
