Explore your future at De Ruijter Strategy

Are you a motivated and talented master student with a broad interest? Do you have the opinion that businesses and (government) organisations should not only focus on the issues of the day, but also think about the longer term? Are you looking for an educational and challenging internship, where you will get the opportunity to take a look at many different places? Then, we invite you to do your internship at De Ruijter Strategy!

De Ruijter Strategy has been putting the future on the agenda for governments and businesses for over 25 years. With our ‘Navigate the Future’ method, we help organisations to develop a course that takes into account future uncertainty and change. Our work consists of process design, data analysis, trend research, scenario planning, training, workshop facilitation, serious gaming, vision development and much more. We work for clients in the public and private sector, at home and abroad; from ministries and municipalities to construction companies and the United Nations.

We are looking for a motivated and driven student who wants to join us as an intern or work on a graduation project. As an intern, you will perform a wide range of support tasks with us. We will help you master these activities and also give you the space to explore your own interests in the field of strategy. At the internships you will:

  • Conduct (trend) research to provide clients with new insights into the external environment in which they operate, and into the strategic considerations involved
  • Report research, both textually and visually and in both Dutch and English
  • Prepare and facilitate workshops, seminars and interviews
  • Report conversations, sessions and workshops for the purpose of the final report and the continuation of the process
  • Manage projects and build and maintain relationships with clients
  • Strategically analyse social and business issues, taking into account the entire playing field in which an organisation operates, as well as uncertain and unexpected developments.

If you recognize yourself in the following profile, we think you will fit in well with our team:

  • You are a master’s student and are following a socially oriented study (e.g. Business Administration, International Relations, Industrial Ecology, History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Law, etc.)
  • You are intrinsically interested in all kinds of themes; from the energy transition to the reform of the pension system and from the future of Europe to the possibilities of the self-driving car. You are a broad ‘omnivore’, who likes to immerse themself in a new subject and research how a new technology or sector works
  • You like to write down your findings in a clear text, but also to summarize them in concise figures or appealing visualizations
  • You are proficient in Dutch and English. Reading proficiency in a third language (e.g. French, German, Spanish) is an advantage
  • In a team, you are flexible, pragmatic and sociable. With our small team, we carry out large assignments, so we have to be able to rely on each other!
  • You are diligent and willing to learn and take on a wide variety all common activities, from researching a wide variety of topics to creating and giving a trend presentation.

We are offering:

  • An internship between 4 and 6 months (Minimum of 4 days per week)
  • A decent internship fee
  • An informal work environment and a fun workpace right around Amsterdam
  • A great deal of experience with regards to strategy
  • An insight into the interesting and diverse variety of projects for both government and business
  • The opportunity to develop a broad interest and build a network of contacts in several industries
  • A close team of engaged colleaugues who are more than happy to assist you during your final project
