How can Curaçao become future-proof in a world full of uncertainty? During the Curaçao Congress in Willemstad, 150 accountants, financial professionals and tax advisors came together. There, they were inspired by a diverse group of speakers around the theme of “future readiness.”
The theme of future readiness is more relevant than ever. Although accountants traditionally tend to look backwards, today’s world calls for forward thinking. Moreover, increasing economic, technological and geopolitical uncertainties make it ever more important to actively reflect on possible futures.
De Ruijter Strategy contributed to the congress. In collaboration with Arthur Izeboud (Vanberkel, Riskjourney), we delivered a keynote on scenario planning. In addition, we presented three possible scenarios for the world of 2025.
Participants then took part in a workshop to apply scenario planning in practice. The central question was which options and courses of action does Curaçao have to deal with threats and seize opportunities in each scenario. The workshop resulted in many creative ideas and demonstrated how valuable it is to jointly work towards a future-proof Curaçao.
