Scenario-based strategy as a competence in your organization

At De Ruijter Strategy (DRS), we see our scenario-based strategy as a competence that can strengthen decision-making across your organisation. Our role goes beyond facilitating scenario and strategy processes — we guide you to build the skills, confidence, and structures needed to apply this approach effectively. This ensures it becomes part of your everyday business practices.

Collaborating on strategy and competence development

Over the years, we have supported organisations in sectors such as telecommunications, financial services, and aviation. We helped them develop and apply their strategies. We work alongside teams and boards, sharing our methods and experience throughout the process. In this way, the process becomes a learning opportunity, enabling teams to gain confidence and capability in applying scenario-based strategy themselves.

However, we know the real value emerges when this competence is embedded throughout the organisation. That’s why we also help clients design development programs. These programs are relevant, forward-looking, and closely aligned with organisational practices.

Learning pathways that fit your needs

Competence development can take many forms. We work directly with your organisation to enhance scenario-based strategy. For instance, at Air France–KLM, we helped embed scenario-based strategy as a lasting competence. We worked with management to strengthen long-term, strategic thinking. Through tailored training and practical application, we supported the development of a shared language and methodology. This enabled leaders to apply scenario-based strategy more effectively in a complex, fast-changing industry.

Alternatively, we collaborate with leading academic partners to design tailored training programs. For GHD, a global multidisciplinary professional services network, we partnered with Melbourne Business School. Together, we created the Scenario & Strategy module within their Global Executive Development Program. For Achmea, we contributed to their development program designed by Nyenrode. We offered a one-day workshop for the strategy department. In this workshop, we explained the scenario-based strategy methodology and combined theory with practice.

Our programs make use of interactive educational designs, including action learning and flipping the classroom approaches, to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment.

Let’s build your competences for the future

Through a continuous exchange between learning and innovation, we bring robust, research-based theories into real-world application — and feed practical insights back into the refinement of theory. This ongoing interaction helps bridge the gap between academic knowledge and strategic practice.

Are you interested in elevating your organization’s learning program? Whether you’re looking to enhance an in-company training or co-develop a custom educational program, we would be delighted to explore how we can support you. For more information, feel free to contact us.
