The Future of Europe: Four Possible Scenarios

What will Europe look like by 2030? Will governance be centralized, or will citizens take a more active role in decision-making? Will European unification progress further, or will nations move apart? And how can scenarios and scenario planning help us prepare for the uncertain future of Europe?

These critical questions shaped the foundation of four future scenarios for Europe, developed during a ProDemos workshop in The Hague in the summer of 2013. Organized as part of the Networking European Citizenship Education (NECE) initiative, the workshop explored potential paths for the continent’s political landscape.

De Ruijter Strategy played a key role in this project—designing and facilitating the workshop, crafting the scenarios, scripting the accompanying film, and overseeing the entire production process.
